Erin’s yoga path as a practitioner and teacher has been inspired by a wide gamut of styles, including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Viniyoga, Anusara, Qigong, and Yin Yoga. Celebrating over 20 years of teaching thousands of students all over the world, her classes are a creative, mindful synthesis of both static and flowing postures and sequences that ultimately cultivate healing and deep body/breath awareness.

Erin’s specialty is Yin Yoga, a profound practice that emphasizes long-held but passive poses which enhance flexibility in the joints and instill lightness and grace in the body. Her audio CD, Yin Yoga: The Essential Practice won rave reviews from Yoga Journal and Alternative Medicine Magazine. It's available on iTunes or through Erin has trained extensively with Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, and Erich Schiffmann and is a certified 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) with the Yoga Alliance. In addition, while living in England for three years, she was certified by the British Wheel of Yoga, an extensive yoga teacher training program recognized by the British government. In 2012, Erin was double-certified as an instructor of the MELT Method, a specialized connective-tissue release protocol which promotes healing and eliminates pain.

Erin also teaches beginning yoga, vigorous Vinyasa flow classes for more seasoned practitioners, and an all-levels mindful-movement class she created called Qigong Yoga Flow. By infusing her classes with warmth, humor, and extensive yoga and movement experience, Erin taps into the vast richness of yoga in a way that surpasses the simple physical practice of asana. Through her yoga company, Yogadeva International, and International Yoga, Erin has led teacher trainings, retreats, and workshops in over 20 countries across the globe. When back home in Marin County, California, Erin teaches private yoga sessions, classes, workshops, and trainings for Bay Club Marin and created the yoga program for the employees at Lucas Films that has been thriving since 2004.

Vibrant good health of body, mind and soul! Yoga is praying with my body!

What inspired you to teach yoga?

My father was my first inspiration. I grew up practicing yoga with him in the mornings before school. For decades I passionately studied ballet, jazz, modern dance, and theater arts. Finally in the early '80s I returned full-circle to fully embrace yoga again as a heartfelt practice.

Who are your most influential teachers?

Erich Schiffmann, Sarah Powers, and Paul Grilley

How would you describe your style?

Joyful, creative, safe but respectfully challenging, calming yet enlivening, breath-based, meditative, and FUN! No class is ever the same!

Why do you feel retreats are transformational?

Getting away and experiencing new cultures is truly life changing! But adding the anchor of yoga for a group traveling together enriches the experience.

What is your favorite pose to teach?

Any pose that makes you tingle!

What is your favorite pose to practice?

Ardha Chandrasana... because it makes me tingle.

J. Lillis, Royal Bali

The trip was amazing. Erin Fleming did an outstanding job, not only with our yoga sessions but throughout the entire stay. The day of Nyepi, she conducted a meditation session followed with an amazing ceremony. Every activity was well planned, with guides that shared the beauty of Bali through formal and informal conversation.

K, Maher, Maui

Just loved the overall experience. The people I met were wonderful, and the setting couldn't be better. I liked that I had the free time to go off on my own, but I really valued the company of the others on the trip.

S. Janachowski, Maui

Just thank you for making it so easy and wonderful!
