Jacqui Rowley
Jacqui teaches alignment-focused classes that explore the purpose and mechanics of each pose, thoughtfully weaving them together to build toward a cohesive theme. Born and raised in South Africa, she brings a rich movement background in ballet and modern dance, and her teaching is deeply informed by a lifelong curiosity about the body and its potential. Her yoga journey began in 1996 when she joined her mother for a community class near their home in Johannesburg. While it wasn't love at first practice, yoga became a meaningful way to spend time together. In 2008, Jacqui discovered vinyasa yoga and everything changed. The seamless connection between breath and movement felt like a homecoming, an experience of embodiment, presence, and joy. Since then, her passion for the practice has continued to evolve, and she remains endlessly fascinated by yoga's capacity to challenge, teach, and transform, both on and off the mat.

FAQ

What inspired you to teach yoga?

My love for movement and finding a healthy way to do so.

Who are your most influential teachers?

Harvey Deutch, Sean Haleen, Stacey Rosenberg

How would you describe your classes?

A thoughtfully sequenced flow grounded in alignment and anatomy, inviting a sense of playful curiosity in every asana. Expect mindful transitions, creative exploration, and a deeper connection to your movement practice.

Why do you feel retreats are transformational?

Yoga retreats can feel transformational because they change your environment, rhythm, attention, and habits all at once. That creates space for shifts that are harder to make in everyday life.

What is your favorite pose to teach?

I love all the variations of lunges. An asana so simple, but after 20+ yrs, I still find something new to experience/feel.

What is your favorite pose to practice?

Any and all forward folds and twists.

Where are your favorite places to travel?

Mexico! I haven’t traveled very much and keep finding myself returning to Mexico.
