Return, Renew & Remember in Mexico

A celebration of the present moment, love, remembrance, and the enduring connections that live within us, this special retreat in Sayulita during Día de los Muertos invites us to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and reflect on the beauty of being alive.

Through twice-daily yoga, meditation, breathwork, and moments of reflection, we’ll create space to release what no longer serves us, honor those who have shaped our lives, and welcome new beginnings with open hearts. Surrounded by the vibrant spirit of Mexico and nestled in the lush jungle at Haramara, we’ll explore the balance between letting go and holding on while making time for nourishing meals, rest, meaningful connection, and the beauty of Mexican culture.

Come as you are, honor what has been, celebrate what is, and make space for what is yet to come.

Jacqui Rowley
Jacqui teaches alignment-focused classes that explore the purpose and mechanics of each pose, thoughtfully weaving them together to build toward a cohesive theme. Born and raised in South Africa, she brings a rich movement background in ballet and modern dance, and her teaching is deeply informed by a lifelong curiosity about the body and its potential. Her yoga journey began in 1996 when she joined her mother for a community class near their home in Johannesburg. While it wasn't love at first practice, yoga became a meaningful way to spend time together. In 2008, Jacqui discovered vinyasa yoga and everything changed. The seamless connection between breath and movement felt like a homecoming, an experience of embodiment, presence, and joy. Since then, her passion for the practice has cont... Read More

FAQ

Is this more of a yoga retreat or an adventure trip?

This is primarily a yoga retreat. Our week at Haramara is centered on immersive daily practice—morning active asana, afternoon restorative and meditation—along with nourishing meals, rest, and meaningful connection. There is free time to swim, receive spa treatments, or walk into Sayulita, but the heart of the experience is deepening your relationship with yoga in a peaceful jungle sanctuary overlooking the ocean.

Can you tell me more about the yoga offered during this retreat?

Yoga will be generally be offered twice daily (morning & evening), except arrival and departure days will be only one session each. All levels of yoga experience are welcome on International Yoga retreats. For more information on Jacqui Rowley and her teaching style you can view her bio here.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15-25 attendees is a general average.

What are the accommodations like?

Haramara Retreat offers beautiful, rustic, open-air casitas tucked into the jungle hillside, with views of the ocean and surrounding canopy. Spread throughout the property and connected by walking trails, the casitas provide privacy and a peaceful connection to nature. Interiors are simple and inviting, with comfortable beds and handwoven sheets. Each cabana has a private bathroom with a shower and flush toilet. The casitas have no windows or screens, only gauzy curtains, allowing ocean breezes and the sounds of the outdoors to flow through.

Is there electricity?

There is no electricity in the cabanas.  They are illuminated at night with oil lamps and candles.  You will be unable to use any small electrical appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or razors.  There are no fans or air conditioning in the cabanas.  If you want to read at night, you will need to bring a book light with you.  There is no outdoor lighting so you will need to carry a flashlight or use a headlamp at night.  There is, however, electricity in the Yoga Pavilion and the Restaurant for recharging batteries.  It is the same voltage as the United States so no converter is needed.

Is there WiFi available at Haramara?

There are no phones or WiFi located on the property at Haramara Retreat.  If you would like to use the phone or the Internet, you will need to go to the town of Sayulita. We will provide you with emergency contact information before departure.

Are meals included in my program cost?

Yes, three meals per day are included. Delicious and healthy gourmet meals are made from only the freshest natural and local ingredients.  The menu is chosen daily by the chef based on the ingredients that are available.  The always-changing daily menu includes seafood or vegetarian dishes.  Special dietary restrictions or requirements can be accommodated. Please be sure to note these in your registration form.

Coffee and freshly squeezed juice are offered in the mornings.  Tea, purified water, and fresh fruit water are available all day.  Beer, wine, and margaritas are available for purchase in the afternoons and at dinner.

What if I am traveling alone?

International Yoga gets hundreds of individuals each year who travel alone on retreat. Single cabanas for this retreat are extremely limited so it is likely that you will need to choose a shared rooming option if you wish to attend this retreat solo.

We will do our best to match you with an awesome roommate of the same gender. In the rare event we are unable to match you in a room with another traveler you will need to pay a single supplement fee to have your own room.

Are gratuities included?

Tips for the kitchen, dining & housekeeping staff are not included in your trip price. We suggest that you budget $15 U.S. per day/person or $100 US per week/person. This will be shared amongst all the service staff. You may leave this with our manager at the end of your stay. Gratuities for the Spa Staff need to be paid directly to them at the time of service. All gratuities should be paid in cash.

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international flights into and out of Puerto Vallarta (airport code: PVR).

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Airport transfers are not included in your trip. Once you have provided us with your flight information, we will organize your airport transfer for you. The total cost of the transfer from the airport to/from Haramara is $95-$125 based on the number of passengers in the van. Your driver will collect the fee and US dollars are accepted. We will advise on the exact cost of your transfer pertaining to total passengers 1-2 weeks before departure.

Do I need a visa for travel to Mexico?

No, acquiring a visa prior to your travel to Mexico is not required. During the flight to Puerto Vallarta you will be given documentation to fill out which you will then need to present to the immigration official upon your entry into Mexico. Please be sure you keep this piece of paper for your departure. You will be asked for this upon check-in for your return flight home. If you do not have this piece of paper there will be a fine and the hassle of redoing all of this paperwork on the spot!

What is the weather like in Sayulita?

The weather in Sayulita in late October and early November is typically warm and tropical, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 80s°F and evenings in the low to mid-70s°F. This time of year marks the transition out of the rainy season, so you can expect decreasing rainfall, plenty of sunshine, and warm, somewhat humid conditions.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect both you and your investment. Unexpected events—such as personal emergencies, health issues, political or environmental factors, or weather disruptions—can arise and affect travel plans.

For the maximum coverage, be sure to purchase your policy within 7–10 days of your initial deposit. Please note that, as we must adhere to our cancellation policy, you will be responsible for any costs if you choose not to have coverage. While we do not advise on specific policies, we recommend exploring options through the reputable travel insurance aggregator, InsureMyTrip. They can help you select a travel insurance provider and policy that best suits your needs.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

A $1000 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your space on the retreat, with the final balance due by July 1, 2027. If you cancel before the final balance deadline, we will refund all payments received, less the non-refundable deposit. Any outstanding balance will be automatically charged to the payment method on file on the due date, unless otherwise arranged with International Yoga. Registrations received after the final balance deadline require payment in full at the time of registration. As outlined in our Terms & Conditions, all final balance payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after the final balance deadline. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
