Yoga in Mexico

Join Peggy for her annual retreat to Sayulita, Mexico! Located on 12 acres of private land, our retreat center at Haramara is a stunning location nestled in a tropical landscape, overlooking the sparkling pacific ocean.

Twice daily yoga practices will be held in a beautiful open-air pavilion. In the morning you will enjoy a vigorous and joyful flow class and in the evenings, a calming yin practice. You will sleep in open-air cabanas set amidst a lush jungle background. Each cabana includes a private bathroom, an outdoor shower, and breathtaking ocean and mountain views. Other highlights of the trip include fresh, organic cuisine, a sublime saltwater pool, and of course fabulous company on this fun and deeply rejuvenating yoga adventure!

Peggy Orr
Peggy began her yoga practice in 1989 with Chuck Miller at the original YogaWorks on Montana. At the time, it was just a small room with a nail salon next door. Over the years, her practice became very important to her, and still is. Influential teachers include Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Erich Schiffman, Paul Grilley, Tim Miller and Tony Briggs. Peggy brings her deep connection to movement, offbeat humor, and life experience to her practice. Teaching is her karma yoga.

FAQ

What is the cancellation & refund policy?

For bookings made prior to March 1, 2020: Your final balance payment was collected on January 3, 2020 and no further payments are due. As outlined in our Terms & Conditions all payments are final, non-refundable and non-transferable.

For bookings made after March 1, 2020: A $500 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your participation in this retreat. The final balance payment is due by November 6, 2020 and we will send you an invoice and a link to complete payment approximately one week in advance of the deadline. If you do not complete payment by the due date, the card on file will be automatically charged unless you advise us in advance of that date in writing that you are canceling. As provided in our Terms & Conditions all payments are non-refundable/non-transferable after November 6, 2020.

What airport do I fly into?

Your international flight needs to be booked round trip to Puerto Vallarta (airport code: PVR).

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

No, airport transfers are not included in your trip. Once you have provided us with your flight information, we will organize your airport transfer for you. The total cost of the transfer from the airport to/from Haramara is $65-$100 based on the number of passengers in the van. Your driver will collect the fee and US dollars are accepted. We will advise on the exact cost of your transfer pertaining to total passengers 1-2 weeks before departure.

What are the accommodations like?

Wake up each morning in your own secluded jungle cabana with ocean views. These individual rooms have their own private bathrooms with a shower, a flush toilet and hot and cold water. Sleep in comfortable hand woven sheets and enjoy the gentle breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Each cabana is open-air style to allow for maximum relaxation. Some cabanas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon siestas. Enjoy, this slice of paradise is yours for the week!

Are meals included in my program cost?

Delicious and healthy gourmet meals are made from only the freshest natural and local ingredients.  The menu is chosen daily by the chef based on the ingredients that are available.  The always-changing daily menu includes seafood or vegetarian dishes.  Special dietary restrictions or requirements can be accommodated. Please be sure to note these in your registration form.

Coffee and fresh squeezed juice is offered in the mornings.  Tea, purified water and fresh fruit water are available all day.  Beer, wine and margaritas are available for purchase in the afternoons and at dinner.

What if I am traveling alone?

International Yoga gets hundreds of individuals each year who travel alone on retreat.

If you prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. In the event we are unable to match you with another traveler 50% of the single supplement will be applied to your final balance.

If you prefer to have your own room, a single supplement will also applied.

Are gratuities included?

Tips for the kitchen, dining & housekeeping staff are not included in your trip price. We suggest that you budget $15 U.S. per day/person or $100 US per week/person. This will be shared amongst all the service staff. You may leave this with our manager at the end of your stay. Gratuities for the Spa Staff need to be paid directly to them at the time of service. All gratuities should be paid in cash.

Do I need a visa for travel to Mexico?

No, acquiring a visa prior to your travel to Mexico is not required. During the flight to Puerto Vallarta you will be given documentation to fill out which you will then need to present to the immigration official upon your entry into Mexico. BE SURE YOU KEEP THIS PIECE OF PAPER FOR YOUR DEPARTURE. You will be asked for this upon check-in for your return flight home. If you do not have this piece of paper there will be a fine and the hassle of redoing all of this paperwork on the spot!

Does my travel require any vaccinations?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Mexico. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What is the weather like in Sayulita?

The weather is expected to be warm and humid with highs ranging in the upper to mid 80’s during the day.

Are Phones/Internet/Fax available at Haramara?

There are no phones, internet or fax out at Haramara Retreat.  If you would like to use the phone, internet, or fax you will need to go into the town of Sayulita. We will provide you with ermergency contact information before departure.

Is there electricity?

There is no electricity in the cabanas.  They are illuminated at night with oil lamps and candles.  You will be unable to use any small electrical appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or razors.  There are no fans or air conditioning in the cabanas.  If you want to read at night, you will need to bring a book light with you.  There is no outdoor lighting so you will need to carry a flashlight or use a headlamp at night.  There is, however, electricity in the Yoga Pavilion and the Restaurant for recharging batteries.  It is the same voltage as the United States so no converter is needed.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-20 attendees is a general average.

Do I need travel insurance?

International Yoga strictly adheres to the cancellation policy outlined in our Terms & Conditions and does not make exceptions under any circumstances. For this reason we strongly recommended the purchase of travel insurance. In order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 7-10 days of placing your initial deposit. There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn’t covered — especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons (which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage). Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.
