Mint Tea, Meditation & Magic in Morocco

With desert dwellings, mountain peaks, ancient cities, and rich culture, Morocco is a destination like no other. This gateway to sub-Saharan Africa is a country of rich diversity and warm hospitality mixing centuries-old traditions and inspiring progressive intrigue. The alchemy of exhilarating colors, remarkable landscapes and once-in-a-lifetime adventures, woven together by Andrea's yoga and meditation practices make your yoga mat feel like a magic carpet. We begin in Marrakech, wandering through the labyrinth of medinas, enjoying excellent restaurants, visiting local artisans and dazzled by snake charmers as we imbibe the ubiquitous fresh-pressed mint tea-- all part of everyday life in this bustling city. From Marrakech, we're driven to the nearby Stone Desert where we sleep in gorgeously designed upscale tents. Our day starts with a yoga practice overlooking the extraordinary desert sand dunes and ends as we take in the night sky while camel trekking. Next, another short drive drops us off in the spectacular Atlas Mountains, North Africa’s highest mountain range. Here, we stay in an exquisite Kasbah surrounded by green fields, groves of olives, lemon, and orange trees and picturesque views of the nearby snowy mountain peaks. Day trips take us to provincial mountain villages. All of our accommodations are curated for their high-end service, location, and deluxe design. Every detail of our trip has been tended to and our retreat is punctuated by expert guides and unforgettable unique experiences.

FAQ

What is the cancellation & refund policy for this trip?

A $1000 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your participation in this retreat. The final balance payment is due by February 1, 2022 and we will send you an invoice and a link to complete payment approximately one week in advance of the deadline. If you do not complete payment by the due date, the card on file will be automatically charged on February 1, 2022, unless you advise us in advance of that date in writing that you are cancelling. As provided in our Terms & Conditions all payments are final and non-refundable/non-transferable after this date.

When should I place my deposit for this trip?

Given the complexity and extremely limited number of spaces at our handpicked luxury accommodations, we strongly suggest placing your deposits as soon as possible.

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Marrakesh (airport code: RAK).

If you wish to arrive a day early to settle in and get acclimated we can request additional nights at our group hotel. Please contact us directly for rates

Are there group airfares?

There are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance and review any itineraries you find. Please contact us before purchasing flights, and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Do I need a visa for travel to Morocco?

American citizen visitors to Morocco do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a visa upon arrival, which is valid for up to 90 days.

Important: Your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond your date of entry into Morocco.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need to bring a mat and will props be available during yoga classes?

Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-25 attendees is a general average.

What are the accommodations like?

We will be staying at gorgeous 5-star hotels chosen for their location and quality of service throughout Morocco. We've used them all for groups in the past. Please contact us at [email protected] for details on where you will be staying for your specific itinerary.

Are all levels of yoga experience welcome, from beginning to more advanced?

Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone's yoga needs will be met.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. As all payments to International Yoga are non-refundable, the purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, note that you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption.

There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn't covered, especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage. IMPORTANT: in order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit. Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.
