Sacred Journey of Yoga and Culture in Peru

Join Michele Klink for mystery, magic and mysticism in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This epic journey of a lifetime will take you through the peaks and valleys of your own heart, as we venture out of our ‘shelters’ and, with a small group, explore the travel world of wonder.

The first 6 nights of your ten-day journey will be supported with daily Yoga classes led by Michele Klink in a beautiful retreat center surrounded by lush vegetation of native plants, fruit trees, and nourished by a magnificent waterfall deep in the Sacred Valley. These daily Yoga and Meditation practices, blended with mystical experiences, will provide insight and inspiration that will deeply reconnect you with the passions of your heart and open the windows to your Soul.  An expert and loved local guide will lead you on rich cultural excursions in the Sacred Valley, including a tour to a local alpaca farm and a visit with local artisans.  Peruvian cuisine will divinely delight your palate each day and night. From Sacred Valley, your journey will continue via train to explore the mysterious and mystical ruins of Machu Picchu for a transformational experience of Peru's great “Wonder’s of the World”. The trip will conclude in Cusco where we will soak in the vibrancy of the city, enjoy local food and visit several historical sites.

This sacred journey provides a special opportunity to be personally guided through a land steeped in culture, tradition, and history. You will experience sacred practices, Shaman’s ceremonies, and visit many magical ruins dotted throughout this mystical land, the sanctuary for the ancient and intelligent Inca culture. Valentin's Pachamama Journeys, Peru
IY Travel Impact

We have been partnering with Valentin Baca Baños, a Peruvian native, for over a decade. His tour company, Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys, is strongly committed to supporting social projects that help local people and the economy in Peru. They partner with humanitarian organizations to supply shoes, hats, medicine, and other needs to local children and their families. As part of IY's Travel Impact Program, a portion of your trip price will be donated to a local school that Valentin has built to support the children in his Sacred Valley community. We will have the opportunity to visit the school during our trip and donate additional supplies.

FAQ

When should I place my deposit?

We strongly recommend placing a deposit to secure your space on this trip as soon as possible. Given the complexity of this journey, there are multiple reservations which require significant advanced booking and financial commitments. These are made on your behalf (space permitting) as soon as you place your deposit. These types of reservations include but are not limited to: multiple hotel bookings, train tickets, bus transportation, entry permits to Huyana Picchu (extremely limited & government regulated) and more. We will do everything we can to confirm all necessary reservations and permits however, we can not guarantee these arrangements without advanced booking. For questions please email [email protected].

What are the accommodations like?

Our retreat center is a natural and transformative setting, perfect for diving deep into the practice of yoga. Body, mind, and soul can be nourished and fed in the center's outdoor and indoor yoga spaces. These simple yet lovely accommodations will be home in the sacred valley as you explore both your yoga practice as well as the nearby ancient ruins.

During our time in Aguas Calientes and Cusco, we will stay at hotels selected carefully for their location and level of service. More details will be provided upon registration.

How many people are expected on this trip?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15-25 attendees is a general average.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need a visa for travel to Peru?

American citizen visitors to Peru do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a tourist card upon entry, which is valid for up to 90 days.

What airport do I fly into?

Flying from the US: You will book your international ticket in and out of Cusco International Airport (Code: CUZ)

Traveling to Peru requires a connection in Lima (airport code: LIM). The flight from Lima to Cusco is 1 hour. Depending on the airline, this may require that you book tickets separately. We suggest that you consider booking a flight into Cusco with LATAM or TACA that arrives prior to 11 a.m. Earlier flights are subject to fewer weather-related delays than flights arriving later in the day.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may need to stay overnight in Lima before catching your connection to Cusco. If this is the case, there is a Wyndham hotel attached to the Lima airport where you can rest on your stopover. To book please contact Wyndham directly.

Further details about booking flights will be provided upon registration.

Are there group airfares?

No, there are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance, resources for booking and review any itineraries you are considering. Please contact us before purchasing flights, and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, airport transfers are included in the price of your trip.

Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

Are meals included?

All meals are included during the first 6 days of the program in the Sacred Valley at our retreat center. Lunches and dinners are not included during our days in Aguas Calientes and Cusco.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

Yes. As all payments to International Yoga are non-refundable, the purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, note that you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption.

There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn't covered, especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage.

IMPORTANT: In order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit. Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.

What is the cancellation policy?

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. The final balance payment is due January 26, 2023. If you cancel prior to the final balance deadline we will refund any payments you have made, minus the non-refundable deposit. We will send you an invoice to complete your payment in advance of the final balance deadline. If you do not complete the payment on your own by that date, the card on file will be automatically charged your remaining balance. If you register for the trip after January 26, 2023. the full amount is due at sign up.  All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after January 26, 2023. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree to upon registration.

If you wish to cancel your participation on this program you must advise International Yoga in writing to: [email protected]
