Born in Tafilalet oasis, a Kasbah in southern Morocco, El Mehdi Mehdioui was born into a family of craftsmen. After completing his education in mathematics & physics at Rabat University, he became a licensed insider through the Moroccan tourism and craft ministry and has been helping travelers discover the beauty of Marrakech ever since. Amal Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of underserved women through restaurant training and job placement. Amal's ultimate goal is personal transformation through the development of job and life skills for their trainees to eventually achieve economic and social stability. Amal helps their graduates find jobs in restaurants, hotels, riads, or private homes that will allow them to become financially independent. Amal is a self-sustained social entity that strives to make positive changes in women's lives in Morocco.
FAQ
When should I place my deposit for this trip?
Given the complexity and extremely limited number of spaces at our handpicked luxury accommodations, we strongly suggest placing your deposits as soon as possible.
What airport do I fly into?
You will book your international ticket into and out of Marrakesh (airport code: RAK).
Are there group airfares?
There are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance and review any itineraries you find. Please contact us before purchasing flights, and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Do I need a Visa for travel to Morocco?
American citizen visitors to Morocco do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a visa upon arrival, which is valid for up to 90 days.
What if I'm traveling alone?
We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreats alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat? Will props be available during yoga classes?
Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.
Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?
Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.
How many people are expected on this trip?
Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12 to 18 attendees is a general average for Morocco. Space is limited for this particular trip.
What are the accommodations like?

Are all levels of yoga welcome, from beginning to more advanced?
Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone's yoga needs will be met.

Do I need travel insurance?
International Yoga strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident may arise that can prevent or interrupt your travels. If you do not purchase travel insurance you will assume 100% of any costs associated with the cancellation/ interruption of your retreat.
While we cannot advise on specific travel insurance policies, we recommend looking at plans through the reputable travel insurance provider, Travelex. The FAQ section at the bottom of their website is quite helpful, and they have a number you can call as well.
Note that to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 10 - 15 days of placing your initial deposit.
What is the cancellation policy for this trip?
A $1000 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. The final balance payment is due by January 6, 2025. If you cancel before the final balance deadline we will refund any payments you have made, minus the non-refundable deposit. If you do not complete the payment on your own by that date, the card on file will be automatically charged your remaining balance. If you register for the trip after January 6, 2025. the full amount is due at sign-up. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after January 6, 2025. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred before the commencement of the retreat.
