FAQ

Is this more of a yoga retreat or an adventure trip?

This experience leans toward an immersive travel journey, with a thoughtfully paced itinerary that blends movement, culture, and exploration. While we will enjoy daily yoga practices—some days offering two sessions—the focus is on experiencing Vietnam in a meaningful and engaging way. From the energy of Hanoi to the peaceful landscapes of Ninh Binh and the stillness of Ha Long Bay, each day invites discovery, connection, and inspiration.

What kind of yoga can I expect on this retreat?

Erika’s yoga classes are thoughtful and strong, combining precise instruction with compassionate guidance. Drawing on her background in Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara, Yin, and therapeutic yoga, she supports a range of ages and abilities, helping you adapt the practice to your individual needs. She often weaves in mindfulness meditation and Qigong, a practice that connects breath and movement.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat? Will props be available during yoga classes?

Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.

What are the accommodations like?

Accommodations have been thoughtfully selected to reflect the character of each destination. We’ll stay in a boutique luxury hotel in Hanoi, a peaceful countryside retreat in Ninh Binh, and enjoy an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay—each offering comfort, beauty, and a strong sense of place.

What will the weather be like in October?

Late October is generally a pleasant time to visit Northern Vietnam, with warm days, cooler evenings, and less rain and humidity than in summer. In Hanoi and Ninh Binh, daytime highs are typically in the low 80s°F, with overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s°F. Ha Long Bay can feel slightly cooler and breezier on the water. Overall, expect a mix of sunshine and clouds, with occasional showers, so light layers and a rain jacket are helpful for exploring.

What airport do I fly into?

You will fly into and out of Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, airport transfers are included on the official arrival and departure days of the retreat.

Do I need a Visa for travel to Vietnam?

Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality. Many travelers will need to obtain an e-visa in advance. We recommend checking with your local Vietnamese consulate or official government website for the most up-to-date requirements.

What if I'm traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreats alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

How many people are expected on this trip?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15 - 25 attendees is a general average.

Are all levels of yoga welcome, from beginning to more advanced?

Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone's yoga needs will be met.

Do I need travel insurance?

At International Yoga, we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance to protect yourself and your investment. Unexpected events—such as personal emergencies, political or environmental factors, health issues, or weather-related disruptions—can arise and may prevent or interrupt your travel plans. Note that because we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy, you will be responsible for 100% of any costs associated with the cancellation or interruption of your retreat should you choose not to purchase travel insurance.

While we do not provide recommendations for specific policies, we suggest exploring options through the reputable travel insurance aggregator, InsureMyTrip. They can help you find a provider and policy that best suits your needs. For maximum coverage, we advise purchasing travel insurance within 7–10 days of placing your initial deposit.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

A $1000 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your space on the retreat, with the final balance due by June 23, 2027. If you cancel before the final balance deadline, we will refund all payments received, less the non-refundable deposit. Any outstanding balance will be automatically charged to the payment method on file on the due date, unless otherwise arranged with International Yoga. Registrations received after the final balance deadline require payment in full at the time of registration. As outlined in our Terms & Conditions, all final balance payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after the final balance deadline. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
