Between Being & Becoming: Yoga in Vietnam

Vietnam is a place where the landscape itself invites stillness. In the north, mist-covered mountains, terraced rice fields, and the quiet waters of Ha Long Bay create a setting that feels both grounding and expansive. This journey moves from the vibrant energy of Hanoi to the peaceful countryside of Ninh Binh and the otherworldly seascapes of Ha Long Bay. Along the way, cultural experiences—from local markets and cooking traditions to village life—offer a deeper connection to Vietnam’s rhythms and way of life. Guided by Ashley, daily yoga and meditation are thoughtfully woven throughout the experience, inviting both movement and reflection. Supported by the natural environment, this retreat offers space to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with something steady and essential.

FAQ

Is this more of a yoga retreat or an adventure trip?

This experience leans toward an immersive travel journey, with a thoughtfully paced itinerary that blends movement, culture, and exploration. While we will enjoy daily yoga practices—some days offering two sessions—the focus is on experiencing Vietnam in a meaningful and engaging way. From the energy of Hanoi to the peaceful landscapes of Ninh Binh and the stillness of Ha Long Bay, each day invites discovery, connection, and inspiration.

What kind of yoga can I expect on this retreat?

Ashley’s teaching weaves together mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation. Classes are designed to complement the journey—energizing in the mornings and more restorative or grounding in the evenings—creating space to both awaken and unwind.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat? Will props be available during yoga classes?

Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.

What are the accommodations like?

Accommodations have been thoughtfully selected to reflect the character of each destination. We’ll stay in a boutique luxury hotel in Hanoi, a peaceful countryside retreat in Ninh Binh, and enjoy an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay—each offering comfort, beauty, and a strong sense of place.

What will the weather be like in March?

March is one of the best times to visit Northern Vietnam, with generally mild and pleasant conditions. In Hanoi, temperatures typically range from the mid-60s to mid-70s°F, with some humidity and occasional light rain. In Ninh Binh, the weather is similar, often with soft mist over the rice fields that adds to the region’s beauty. Ha Long Bay tends to be slightly cooler and breezy on the water. Overall, you can expect comfortable temperatures for exploring, with a mix of sunshine and overcast skies.

What airport do I fly into?

You will fly into and out of Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, airport transfers are included on the official arrival and departure days of the retreat.

Do I need a Visa for travel to Vietnam?

Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality. Many travelers will need to obtain an e-visa in advance. We recommend checking with your local Vietnamese consulate or official government website for the most up-to-date requirements.

What if I'm traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreats alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

How many people are expected on this trip?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15 - 25 attendees is a general average.

Are all levels of yoga welcome, from beginning to more advanced?

Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone's yoga needs will be met.

Do I need travel insurance?

At International Yoga, we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance to protect yourself and your investment. Unexpected events—such as personal emergencies, political or environmental factors, health issues, or weather-related disruptions—can arise and may prevent or interrupt your travel plans. Note that because we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy, you will be responsible for 100% of any costs associated with the cancellation or interruption of your retreat should you choose not to purchase travel insurance.

While we do not provide recommendations for specific policies, we suggest exploring options through the reputable travel insurance aggregator, InsureMyTrip. They can help you find a provider and policy that best suits your needs. For maximum coverage, we advise purchasing travel insurance within 7–10 days of placing your initial deposit.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?
