POSTPONED: Body & Soul: New Year's in Peru

There is magic in the mountains of Peru, and no better way to set the tone for a New Year than a visit to one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu! The first part of our ten-day journey will be supported with twice daily yoga classes led by Ashley in a beautiful retreat center surrounded by lush vegetation and a magnificent waterfall. An expert local guide will lead us on rich cultural excursions in the Sacred Valley, including a tour to a local alpaca farm and a visit with local artisans. From the Sacred Valley, we will take a train to Aguas Calientes where we'll explore the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. The trip will conclude in Cusco where we will soak in the vibrancy of the city, enjoy local food and visit several historical sites.

This will be a journey, not just about the beauty of our surroundings, but more so about the beauty within your soul. Through practice, we'll explore different ways to reconnect to our body and mind in order to uncover our heart's highest intention. Unwind, dig deep, and soak in the magic!

FAQ

When should I place my deposit for this trip?

We strongly recommend placing a deposit to secure your space on this trip as soon as possible. Given the complexity of this journey, there are multiple reservations which require significant advanced booking and financial commitments. These are made on your behalf (space permitting) as soon as you place your deposit. These types of reservations include but are not limited to: multiple hotel bookings, train tickets, bus transportation, entry permits to Huyana Picchu (extremely limited & government regulated) and more. We will do everything we can to confirm all necessary reservations and permits however, we can not guarantee these arrangements without advanced booking. For questions please email [email protected].

What are the accommodations like?

Our retreat center is a natural and transformative setting, perfect for diving deep into the practice of yoga. Body, mind, and soul can be nourished and fed in the center's outdoor and indoor yoga spaces. These simple yet lovely accommodations will be home in the sacred valley as you explore both your yoga practice as well as the nearby ancient ruins.

During our time in Aguas Calientes and Cusco, we will stay at hotels selected carefully for their location and level of service. More details will be provided upon registration.

How many people are expected on this trip?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15-25 attendees is a general average.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need vaccinations to travel to Peru?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Peru. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

Do I need a visa for travel to Peru?

American citizen visitors to Peru do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a tourist card upon entry, which is valid for up to 90 days.

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international flights into and out of Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (Code: CUZ) to arrive on December 27, 2020, and depart on January 5, 2021

Are there group airfares?

No, there are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance, resorces for booking and review any itineraries you are considering. Please contact us before purchasing flights, and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. We recommend arriving on the morning of December 3rd. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

Are meals included?

All meals are included during the first 6 days of the program in the Sacred Valley at our retreat center. Lunches and dinners are not included during our days in Aguas Calientes and Cusco.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

A $500 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your participation in this retreat. The final balance payment is due by September 25, 2020 and we will send you an invoice and a link to complete payment approximately one week in advance of the deadline. If you do not complete payment by the due date, the card on file will be automatically charged on September 25, 2020, unless you advise us in advance of that date in writing that you are canceling. As provided in our Terms & Conditions all payments made by September 25, 2020 are final and non-refundable/non-transferable.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

International Yoga strictly adheres to the cancellation policy outlined in our Terms & Conditions and does not make exceptions under any circumstances. For this reason we strongly recommended the purchase of travel insurance. In order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 7-10 days of placing your initial deposit. There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn't covered, especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons (which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage). Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.
