Peace & Vitality in Umbria

Peace & Vitality in Umbria

Join certified Iyengar Yoga instructor and Mindful Meditation Mentor Dawn Stillo for a somatic experience of health and well-being in Umbria! Yoga is often described as a path of self-realization or gaining wisdom of our true nature. According to yoga’s philosophy, the multifaceted self, housed in the body, is comprised of the same underlying qualities that pervade nature. In this week of yoga practice and rejuvenation, we will use asana, pranayama, and mindful meditation to somatically experience our inherent qualities and channel our energy for health and well-being. Extended morning and afternoon yoga practices will build throughout our week together. The sequencing and schedule will allow for both challenge and restoration. The mixed-level teaching and progressive approach will allow you to practice at your level.

Known for its medieval hill towns, dense forests, and local cuisine - particularly foraged truffles and wines! Our home for the week is an intimate, family-owned, boutique hotel nestled between Gubbio and Perugia. The property offers 10 uniquely designed luxury rooms, a wellness center with a saltwater swimming pool, a jacuzzi, as well as onsite massage services. You'll get to enjoy delicious foods all week from produce grown in the beautiful onsite gardens. In addition to incredible accommodations; included in your trip will be 2 yoga classes per day, 2 full-day excursions, hiking, an Italian cooking class, and much more!

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Fiumicino international airport in Rome (airport code: FCO).

What are the accommodations like?

Our luxury, boutique hotel accommodation is immersed in nature.  The Locanda del Gallo has 10 rooms all with a private bathroom, each equally fresh and silent, each different from one another. The furnishings adorning every room were all hand-picked and brought back one by one from many distant journeys made by Paola and Irish, the owners of the Locanda del Gallo. There is no television, nothing to disturb the peace and tranquillity. Enjoy green hills, gardens, silence, extreme relaxation in this wellness center with saltwater swimming pool, jacuzzi spa and massage facilities. The private chef will spoil you with healthy and organic cuisine. Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, and Cortona are all within easy reach of the Locanda del Gallo and even Siena, Florence and Rome are not too far.

Do I need a Visa to visit Italy?

U.S. citizens may enter Italy for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. Your passport must be valid at least 6 months from your date of arrival.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes, airport transfers are provided from Rome on the first and last day of the retreat. We recommend arriving in the morning of trip start and departing in the late afternoon of trip conclusion.

What if I am traveling alone?

We love solo-travelers and we have hundreds join us every year on retreat! If you prefer to share your room and are traveling alone, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If we are not able to find you a roommate, a 50% of the single supplement cost will be applied to your final invoice.

Are gratuities included?

Gratuities are not included in the price of your trip. Gratuities are shared by staff, housekeeping or other employees helping you throughout the week then an additional tip is always appreciated. We suggest a budget of around $10/day per guest.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12 - 20 attendees is a general average.

Are meals included?

A private chef will be on staff for our group all week to prepare meals. Organic tomatoes, salad leaves and vegetables are harvested from the kitchens very own garden. Dishes will include authentic Italian and Mediterranean influences including olive oil from the olive grove, aromatic herbs from the garden, yogurt, cakes and homemade breads.

At breakfast they offer a variety such as muesli, corn flakes, various seeds, prunes, homemade yoghurt, sliced meats on request, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, jams/preserves, home baked bread, fruit juices, coffee, tea, milk.

At lunchtime there will be grains, vegetable proteins, a choice of vegetables, fruit, homemade pizzas/focaccias and more.

At dinner time there will be a first course (pasta or soups), main course (vegetarian or meat based) with side dish, raw vegetables + dips and a dessert.

Do I need travel insurance?

International Yoga strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident may arise that can prevent or interrupt your travels. Note that if you elect to not purchase travel insurance you will be assuming 100% of any costs associated with the cancellation/ interruption of your retreat.

As International Yoga cannot advise on specific travel insurance plans, we recommend the reputable travel insurance aggregator InsureMyTrip. They will provide personalized support in selecting a travel insurance provider and policy that works best for your specific needs. Note that most travel insurance providers require that you purchase coverage within 7 to 10 days of your initial booking.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

A non-refundable $500 deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to the final balance deadline, June 20, 2024, we will refund any payments you've made minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable after June 20, 2024. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of the retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions which you agreed to upon registration. We strongly suggest purchasing 'Cancel For Any Reason' travel insurance to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, health, or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption.
