Vinyasa, Iyengar, chanting, and meditation
You, yoga, art, and life
This is primarily a yoga retreat. Our week at Haramara is centered on immersive daily practice—morning active asana, afternoon restorative and meditation—along with nourishing meals, rest, and meaningful connection. There is free time to swim, receive spa treatments, or walk into Sayulita, but the heart of the experience is deepening your relationship with yoga in a peaceful jungle sanctuary overlooking the ocean.
You will book your international flights into and out of Puerto Vallarta (airport code: PVR).
No, airport transfers are not included in your trip. Once you have provided us with your flight information, we will organize your airport transfer for you. The total cost of the transfer from the airport to/from Haramara is $95-$125 based on the number of passengers in the van. Your driver will collect the fee and US dollars are accepted. We will advise on the exact cost of your transfer pertaining to total passengers 1-2 weeks before departure.
Wake up each morning in your own secluded jungle cabana with ocean views. These individual rooms have their own private bathrooms with a shower, a flush toilet and hot and cold water. Sleep in comfortable hand woven sheets and enjoy the gentle breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Each cabana is open-air style to allow for maximum relaxation. Some cabanas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon siestas. Enjoy, this slice of paradise is yours for the week!
Yes, three meals per day are included. Delicious and healthy gourmet meals are made from only the freshest natural and local ingredients. The menu is chosen daily by the chef based on the ingredients that are available. The always-changing daily menu includes seafood or vegetarian dishes. Special dietary restrictions or requirements can be accommodated. Please be sure to note these in your registration form.
Coffee and freshly squeezed juice are offered in the mornings. Tea, purified water, and fresh fruit water are available all day. Beer, wine, and margaritas are available for purchase in the afternoons and at dinner.
International Yoga gets hundreds of individuals each year who travel alone on retreat. Single cabanas for this retreat are extremely limited so it is likely that you will need to choose a shared rooming option if you wish to attend this retreat solo.
We will do our best to match you with an awesome roommate of the same gender. In the rare event we are unable to match you in a room with another traveler you will need to pay a single supplement fee to have your own room.
Tips for the kitchen, dining & housekeeping staff are not included in your trip price. We suggest that you budget $15 U.S. per day/person or $100 US per week/person. This will be shared amongst all the service staff. You may leave this with our manager at the end of your stay. Gratuities for the Spa Staff need to be paid directly to them at the time of service. All gratuities should be paid in cash.
No, acquiring a visa prior to your travel to Mexico is not required. During the flight to Puerto Vallarta you will be given documentation to fill out which you will then need to present to the immigration official upon your entry into Mexico. BE SURE YOU KEEP THIS PIECE OF PAPER FOR YOUR DEPARTURE. You will be asked for this upon check-in for your return flight home. If you do not have this piece of paper there will be a fine and the hassle of redoing all of this paperwork on the spot!
The weather in Sayulita in December is typically warm and pleasant, with daytime highs in the low to mid-80s°F, lower humidity than the summer months, and slightly cooler, comfortable evenings.
There are no phones or WiFi located on the property at Haramara Retreat. If you would like to use the phone or the Internet, you will need to go to the town of Sayulita. We will provide you with emergency contact information before departure.
There is no electricity in the cabanas. They are illuminated at night with oil lamps and candles. You will be unable to use any small electrical appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or razors. There are no fans or air conditioning in the cabanas. If you want to read at night, you will need to bring a book light with you. There is no outdoor lighting so you will need to carry a flashlight or use a headlamp at night. There is, however, electricity in the Yoga Pavilion and the Restaurant for recharging batteries. It is the same voltage as the United States so no converter is needed.
Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15-25 attendees is a general average.
Yoga will be generally be offered twice daily (morning & evening), except arrival and departure days will be only one session each. All levels of yoga experience are welcome on International Yoga retreats. For more information on Ann Dyer and her teaching style you can view her bio here.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect both you and your investment. Unexpected events—such as personal emergencies, health issues, political or environmental factors, or weather disruptions—can arise and affect travel plans.
For the maximum coverage, be sure to purchase your policy within 7–10 days of your initial deposit. Please note that, as we must adhere to our cancellation policy, you will be responsible for any costs if you choose not to have coverage. While we do not advise on specific policies, we recommend exploring options through the reputable travel insurance aggregator, InsureMyTrip. They can help you select a travel insurance provider and policy that best suits your needs.
