La Vita Bella: Yoga in Umbria

La Vita Bella: Yoga in Umbria

Join Vito for seven days of yoga and metta meditation in Umbria — a culturally and energetically rich region known for its medieval hillside towns, dense forests, and divine cuisine. During this retreat you will enjoy twice daily yoga practices that will help you explore, strengthen and open your body and mind through deep asana and meditation practices. You will also have the chance to explore many historical and picturesque towns, including Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and one of Vito’s favorite medieval towns! Situated in the peaceful Umbria hills, our retreat center is a sight in itself. This luxury, boutique hotel commands fine views over 28 gardens, terraced lawns, and verdant woodlands — and you’ll able to soak it all in from the onsite saltwater pool or jacuzzi spa! Personal chefs will spoil us with healthy organic meals prepared straight from the property’s garden. This will be a week full of beauty, indulgence and fun — come reconnect to the joys of life!

"I had the most fantastic time in Umbria! Vito and the group were terrific, the retreat center was beautiful, and the food and wine were top-notch. I loved the whole experience! I can't wait to do another retreat in 2022." — Sherry W

"The retreat was an amazing experience! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and persistence that brought this trip to fruition. I'm not exaggerating when I say every detail was perfect - the classes, the location, our hosts, the food. The excursions were also wonderful... Vito is an incredibly brilliant instructor and a lovely person! He is so knowledgeable and just made the whole experience wonderful from start to finish. Count me in for whatever else you two are cooking up!"— Karin R

Vito Politano
I offer self-care practices to help clients (individuals, groups and corporations) strengthen their self-awareness, mindfully challenge their comfort, and connect to their strength, resilience, and capacity for growth, as well as their ability to abide with the present moment as it is.  I also share metta/lovingkindness meditation practices to strengthen our capacity for self-love, belonging and empathy. Ultimately, I am here to facilitate a connection to the deeper part of ourselves that is resilient beyond our adversities, perceptions, and physical abilities.I have been practicing Yoga since 2004 and began teaching in 2007 while navigating a deeply rooted fear of public speaking. I love leading retreats with International Yoga. Over the years I have studied and trained extensively in ana... Read More

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Fiumicino international airport in Rome (airport code: FCO).

What are the accommodations like?

Our luxury, boutique hotel accommodation is immersed in nature.  The Locanda del Gallo has 10 rooms all with a private bathroom, each equally fresh and silent, each different from one another. The furnishings adorning every room were all hand-picked and brought back one by one from many distant journeys made by Paola and Irish, the owners of the Locanda del Gallo. There is no television, nothing to disturb the peace and tranquillity. Enjoy green hills, gardens, silence, extreme relaxation in this wellness center with saltwater swimming pool, jacuzzi spa and massage facilities. The private chef will spoil you with healthy and organic cuisine. Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, and Cortona are all within easy reach of the Locanda del Gallo and even Siena, Florence and Rome are not too far.

Do I need a Visa to visit Italy?

U.S. citizens may enter Italy for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. Your passport must be valid at least 6 months from your date of arrival.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes, airport transfers are provided from Rome on the first and last day of the retreat. We recommend arriving in the morning of trip start and departing in the late afternoon of trip conclusion.

Do I need vaccinations to travel to Italy?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Italy. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What if I am traveling alone?

We love solo-travleers and we have hundreds join us every year on retreat! If you prefer to share your room and are traveling alone, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If we are not able to find you a roommate, a 50% of the single supplement cost will be applied to your final invoice.

Are gratuities included?

Gratuities are not included in the price of your trip. Gratuities are shared by staff, housekeeping or other employees helping you throughout the week then an additional tip is always appreciated. We suggest a budget of around $10/day per guest.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12 - 20 attendees is a general average.

Are meals included?

A private chef will be on staff for our group all week to prepare meals. Organic tomatoes, salad leaves and vegetables are harvested from the kitchens very own garden. Dishes will include authentic Italian and Mediterranean influences including olive oil from the olive grove, aromatic herbs from the garden, yogurt, cakes and homemade breads.

At breakfast they offer a variety such as muesli, corn flakes, various seeds, prunes, homemade yoghurt, sliced meats on request, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, jams/preserves, home baked bread, fruit juices, coffee, tea, milk.

At lunchtime there will be grains, vegetable proteins, a choice of vegetables, fruit, homemade pizzas/focaccias and more.

At dinner time there will be a first course (pasta or soups), main course (vegetarian or meat based) with side dish, raw vegetables + dips and a dessert.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to International Yoga are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. TravelEx  and World Nomads are two reputable organizations. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so make sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $500 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to May 21, 2021, we will refund your payment minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferable after May 21, 2021. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree upon registration.
