Explore & Unfold - Thailand & Cambodia with Sherri Baptiste

Our journey will begin in the majestic northern city of Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of Thailand. Unique custom-designed excursions will include exploring ancient temples by rickshaw, participating in a traditional offering at a Buddhist temple, enjoying a private walking and shopping tour of local artisans and their handicrafts, cooking classes, an herbal compress class, and a visit to a nearby elephant sanctuary. Accommodation will be at a lovely property located in the historic heart of the city. The charming boutique hotel takes its name from a majestic 200-year-old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel. The rooms reflect the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from various tribes of the region. Enjoy yoga with Sherri one to two times a day in a nearby gathering space, rich cultural interactions, and delicious food. Our yoga practices are part of the fabric of our journey and extend beyond the confines of a studio as we stretch out into the ‘everywhere’ of travel adventure together.

After Thailand we will venture to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, one of the world’s most important ancient monuments and a sight not to be missed in this lifetime. Built in the 1100s, this gorgeous and inspiring Hindu temple complex is the national symbol of Cambodia and holds great pride for the Khmer culture. The grandeur and beauty of the structures are only matched by the skilled artistry of the thousands of intricately carved bas reliefs. The ancient kings of Cambodia competed to outdo each other in the size, scale, and symmetry of their building efforts, culminating in the world’s largest religious building, Angkor Wat.

Our days have been skillfully designed to get the most out of our time here, with an eye for avoiding the crowds. We will see all of the more well-known highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a few off-the-beaten-track treasures, where we will likely be the only visitors there. Our accommodations are in a lovely 4-star hotel with hospitable staff. Cambodia has experienced decades of political upheaval, civil war, and tragedy, yet what you will likely remember the most from your visit is the indomitable spirit and warmth of its citizens.
