Into Botswana: Yoga & Adventure

Journey into the wild heart of Botswana on this small-group, all-inclusive adventure with Peggy Orr and IY Founder Michelle Fliegauf. This eight-night retreat spans two of Africa’s most extraordinary landscapes—from the wildlife-rich waterways of the Okavango Delta to the vast, meditative stillness of the Kalahari Desert. Immersed in some of the most remote and inspiring landscapes on Earth, each day offers space for yoga, adventure, reflection, and meaningful connection—with yourself, with one another, and with the natural world.

Our journey begins at an intimate tented camp near the Moremi Reserve, where we’ll set out on unforgettable game drives, glide quietly through the waterways in a traditional mokoro, and explore the remarkable ecosystem of the Okavango by boat. From there, a breathtaking helicopter flight carries us over the changing landscape to a secluded lodge in the Kalahari.

Here, days unfold at a gentler pace, with opportunities for movement, rest, desert exploration, and a meaningful encounter with the San, Indigenous Peoples of southern Africa with deep ancestral ties to the land and rich cultural traditions spanning thousands of years. We’ll gather around the fire, witness expansive African sunsets, and spend a magical night beneath the stars—an experience of Botswana that is both deeply grounding and impossible to forget.

For many retreat participants, the greatest luxury is simplicity: watching the sun rise and set over untouched landscapes, observing elephants wandering past the lodge, gazing at the Milky Way in pristine night skies, and reconnecting with what truly matters.

This retreat contributes directly to projects that support local communities and conservation efforts, including school transportation for children, playground construction, local employment, community assistance programs, and wildlife initiatives such as giraffe reintroduction in the Kalahari.

Peggy Orr
Peggy began her yoga practice in 1989 with Chuck Miller at the original YogaWorks on Montana. At the time, it was just a small room with a nail salon next door. Over the years, her practice became very important to her, and still is. Influential teachers include Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Erich Schiffman, Paul Grilley, Tim Miller and Tony Briggs. Peggy brings her deep connection to movement, offbeat humor, and life experience to her practice. Teaching is her karma yoga.
