Highlights
Magnificent Morocco

Magnificent Morocco

With desert dunes, mountain peaks, ancient cities, and rich culture Morocco is a destination like no other. This gateway to sub-Saharan Africa is a country of rich diversity and warm hospitality mixing centuries-old tradition with a firm view towards the future. We will begin in Marrakech and explore the labyrinth medinas, excellent restaurants, and visits with local artisans. We will be dazzled by the snake charmers as we imbibe the ubiquitous fresh pressed mint tea and take in everyday life in this bustling city. From Marrakech will be driven to the nearby Stone Desert where we will sleep in gorgeously designed desert tents. We will take in the expansive night sky, enjoy camel trekking and a yoga practice overlooking the vast sand dunes. Another short drive will take us to the spectacular Atlas Mountains, North Africa’s highest mountain range, where we will stay in an exquisite Kasbah surrounded by green fields and groves of olives, lemon, and orange trees while gazing at the nearby snowy mountain peaks.  Day trips will take us to nearby mountain villages. Our hotels are chosen for their level of service, location, and exquisite design. Our retreat will be lead by an expert guide to ensure we experience a unique vantage point of this most incredible of countries.

FAQ

What is the cancellation & refund policy for this trip?

For bookings made prior to March 1, 2020: Your final balance payment was collected on January 10, 2020 and no further payments are due. As outlined in our Terms & Conditions these payments are final, non-refundable and non-transferable.

For bookings made after March 1, 2020: A $1000 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your participation in this retreat. The final balance payment is due by January 15, 2021 and we will send you an invoice and a link to complete payment approximately one week in advance of the deadline. If you do not complete payment by the due date, the card on file will be automatically charged unless you advise us in advance of that date in writing that you are canceling. As provided in our Terms & Conditions all payments are final and non-refundable/non-transferable after January 15, 2021.

When should I place my deposit for this trip?

Given the complexity and extremely limited number of spaces at our handpicked luxury accommodations, we strongly suggest placing your deposits as soon as possible.

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Marrakesh (airport code: RAK).

Are there group airfares?

There are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance and review any itineraries you find. Please contact us before purchasing flights, and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Do I need a Visa for travel to Morocco?

American citizen visitors to Morocco do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a visa upon arrival, which is valid for up to 90 days.

What if I'm traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat? Will props be available during yoga classes?

Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

What vaccinations do I need?

There are no required vaccinations to travel to Morocco. There are, however, some recommended vaccines for travel to Morocco given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make these arrangements in advance.

How many people are expected on this trip?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-18 attendees is a general average for Morocco. Space is limited for this particular trip.

What are the accommodations like?

We will be staying at gorgeous 5-star hotels chosen for their location and quality of service throughout Morocco. We’ve used them all for groups in the past. Please contact us at info@internationalyoga.com for details on where you will be staying for your specific itinerary.

Are all levels of yoga welcome, from beginning to more advanced?

Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone’s yoga needs will be met.

Do I need travel insurance?

International Yoga strictly adheres to the cancellation policy outlined in our Terms & Conditions and does not make exceptions under any circumstances. For this reason we strongly recommended the purchase of travel insurance. In order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 7-10 days of placing your initial deposit. There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn’t covered — especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons (which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage). Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.
