Anne Van Valkenburg
Anne’s journey with yoga began over twenty-five years ago from a place of curiosity and a love of physical activity. It quickly became the focus of her life, both personally and professionally. She has taught in various settings: public classes, in-home private sessions, destination retreats, and, most notably, the YogaWorks 200-hour and 500-hour Instructor Certifications.  In 2019, she pursued a lifelong dream of living in Hawaii and accepted a position as the Wellness Manager for Sensei, a start-up company focusing on complete well-being. For two years, she created original programs, managed a diverse team of wellness practitioners, and refined guest experiences in partnership with Four Seasons Hotels.  Still living in Hawaii, Anne has created her own online yoga ... FAQ

Is this more of a yoga retreat or an adventure trip?

This experience is designed as a true yoga retreat—an opportunity to slow down, reset, and immerse yourself in daily practice amidst the beauty of southern Italy. We’ll be based at one stunning property for the entire week, creating the perfect environment to settle in, restore, and enjoy the unhurried rhythm of retreat life.

While yoga and relaxation are at the heart of our week, we’ll also weave in enriching cultural excursions that capture the essence of Puglia. These include a private e-bike tour through the trulli villages of Alberobello and Locorotondo, a coastal day exploring Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, and a visit to the baroque city of Lecce. Each outing is thoughtfully curated to deepen your connection to the region’s beauty and culture—but they’re always optional.

You’re equally welcome to spend the day lounging by the pool, indulging in a massage, or savoring the peaceful simplicity of life at the masseria.

What are the accommodations like?

Our boutique hotel, nestled in the heart of Puglia near Manduria, is a beautifully restored 16th-century farmhouse offering an immersive experience of Italian countryside charm. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, this family-owned retreat features spacious rooms adorned with antique furnishings, blending rustic elegance with modern comfort. Guests can enjoy farm-to-table dining, savoring organic produce from the estate’s gardens, or relax by the serene pool. With its whitewashed architecture, fragrant citrus trees, and warm hospitality, the hotel captures the essence of southern Italian luxury and authenticity.

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Brindisi Salento Airport (BDS).

Do I need a Visa to visit Italy?

U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for tourism do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within 180 days.

Important: If your passport expires within six months of your arrival date in Italy, please be sure to renew your passport before you go to avoid any issues at immigration. There are no exceptions.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes, private airport transfers are included on the first day and the last day of the retreat. Exact details will be provided after registration.

Are meals included?

All breakfasts and dinners are included. The restaurant at our boutique hotel has a “field to fork” approach, showcasing the best of Pugliese traditional cuisine with a twist. Sourcing her ingredients from the surrounding fields, local farms, and the onsite gardens, the menu highlights the abundance and the excellence of the local products.

Are gratuities included?

Gratuities are not included in the price of your trip. Gratuities are shared by staff, housekeeping or other employees helping you throughout the week then an additional tip is always appreciated. We suggest a budget of around $10/day per guest.

What if I am traveling alone?

We love solo-travelers and we have hundreds join us every year on retreat! If you prefer to share your room and are traveling alone, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If we are not able to find you a roommate for the room category you initially booked, we may need to move you to an alternate rooming type. In some cases, a discounted single supplement fee may need to be applied to your invoice. We will communicate this directly to you via email prior to your departure.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect both you and your investment. Unexpected events—such as personal emergencies, health issues, political or environmental factors, or weather disruptions—can arise and affect travel plans.

For the maximum coverage, be sure to purchase your policy within 7–10 days of your initial deposit. Please note that, as we must adhere to our cancellation policy, you will be responsible for any costs if you choose not to have coverage. While we do not advise on specific policies, we recommend exploring options through the reputable travel insurance aggregator, InsureMyTrip. They can help you select a travel insurance provider and policy that best suits your needs.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 15-25 attendees is a general average.

What is the payment and cancellation policy for this trip?

A $ 1,000 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot on the trip. The final balance payment is due by February 4, 2026. If you cancel before the final balance deadline, we will refund any payments you have made, minus the non-refundable deposit.
