A Spiritual Journey Through India: Sights, Yoga, Culture & Ceremony

We are so excited to invite you to join us on a special spiritual journey to the colorful and fascinating world of India, the motherland of yoga and Hinduism. We will explore the highlights of northern India where we will practice, travel and experience its incredible culture, food, and spirit.  Our journey will begin in the capital of Delhi, where the old meets the new. We will venture down its ancient bustling roads by cycle rickshaw and see the highlights of this city that continues to grow and modernize yet is still firmly rooted in the past. From Delhi, we will take the first class early morning train to Agra and visit the iconic Taj Mahal, a sight not to be missed in this lifetime. Its then on to Jaipur, the gateway to the culturally rich province of Rajasthan where we will visit the spectacular Amber Fort, enjoy a house concert in a traditional haveli, and for this interested there will be some incredible shopping opportunities as well! A flight will take us to Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the jewel in the crown of any visit to India. This is the most important pilgrimage city in all of Hinduism and our days here will be spent on and around the Ganges by boat both at sunrise when we'll be serenaded by classical Indian musicians and at sunset to witness the spectacular evening artis. We will also explore stunning silence of nearby Sarnath, where the Buddha found enlightenment. Daily vinyasa, restorative yoga, sound healing + reiki sessions will be laced throughout our days (time permitting). Join Yuval on a true trip of a lifetime to incredible India!

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

You will being into and out of Delhi (airport code: DEL). The trip begins on Oct 15th but you also have the option of arriving earlier to rest up from your travels before the retreat begins and we can help you with hotel reservations for your early arrival.  Your flight out of Delhi should be booked for Oct 24th after 9pm  to allow for any flight delays between Varanasi into Delhi. Travel insurance strongly recommended.

Do I need a visa for travel to India?

Yes! The India visa process can often be a confusing and lengthy process, which is why we strongly suggest using a visa-processing service such as Travel Visa Pro, which can assist you in getting your visa in a fraction of the time for a nominal fee. If you prefer to do it on your own, you have a few options, listed in the travel planner which we will provide you when you register.

Note: Your passport must be valid 6 months beyond your date of arrival (October 15th).

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Whenever you arrive, day or night, you will be met by a private driver and transported to the group hotel. Note: if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-25 attendees is a general average.

Are gratuities included in my trip price?

Tips are an essential part of the economy in India and are greatly appreciated. We suggest $10-$20/day total per person per day for your local guides, drivers and principal guide who will be with you for the entire duration of the trip. This will be collected by the assistant at the end of the trip and distributed to the team. $5 per day is recommended for your hotel staff, porters & housekeeping. US dollars are widely accepted for tipping as well.

How will I book my domestic airfare for travel within India?

Domestic airfare is not included in the price, but we will take care of the booking for you. We will all travel together once we arrive in India.

What cities in Northern India will we visit?

Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Varanasi.

What vaccinations do I need?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to India. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

What are the accommodations like?

We will be staying at gorgeous 5-star hotels chosen for their location and quality of service throughout Northern India. We've used them all for groups in the past. Please contact us at [email protected] for details on where you will be staying for your specific itinerary.

Are meals included?

All breakfasts are included in the price of the program. Lunches and dinners are not included but our team of expert guides will have excellent reputable suggestions for dining throughout your journey.

Are all levels of yoga experience welcome, from beginning to more advanced?

Yes, all levels are welcome. You will find that wherever you are in your practice you will get just what you need out of the yoga classes on this retreat. International Yoga works only with experienced and extremely qualified teachers, which ensures that everyone's yoga needs will be met.

Do I need to bring a mat and will props be available during yoga classes?

Yes, please bring your own mat in addition to blocks and a strap if you use props during your practice.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to International Yoga are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. TravelEx  and World Nomads are two reputable organizations. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so make sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $1000 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to July 20, 2018 we will refund your payment minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferable after July 20, 2018. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree upon registration.
