Align & Unwind in Maui

The magic of Maui is the perfect backdrop for this special 5-day retreat full of yoga, meditation, and self-care.  The lush grounds of Lumeria are the perfect place to rejuvenate and retreat, offering the ultimate sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the rest of your life.  Nestled between the two historic plantation towns of Makawao and Paia, the six-acre property is surrounded by stunning scenery, beautiful beaches, and some of Maui’s best hiking trails.  Maya was raised in Hawaii and is so excited to share her knowledge of Hawaiian culture and some of the lesser-known places that are must-sees!

Each day will begin with an invigorating asana practice and grounding meditation, in which we will explore and refine our understanding of these practices and how they translate into the rest of our life.  Morning practice will be followed by free time, during which you can relax by the pool, treat yourself to a spa treatment, hike, head to the beach, or partake in optional excursions.  Afternoon practices will vary, including taking a more thorough look at specific postures, exploring other movement modalities, and deeply relaxing restorative sequences.  In the evening, we will laugh and give thanks for our meal as a community, offering plenty of time for developing personal connections.

Over the course of the retreat, Maya will artfully weave in her knowledge of yoga, deep relaxation, mindfulness, and metta (loving-kindness) meditation, ensuring that you will return home with a reenergized body, calm mind, and an awakened spirit.

Maya Magennis
Hi, I'm Maya! For as long as I can remember, I've loved to move. Born and raised on Kauai, I spent my formative years running, jumping, and practicing cartwheels with abandon. My formal movement training began with ballet, which I studied for over 15 years, and since then I’ve spent much of my time exploring the connection between my body and mind. I became intrigued by yoga as an undergraduate student at Duke University, and yoga and meditation became my support system as I entered the fast-paced, high-stress world of investment banking. Teaching has always been my calling, but it took me many years and a lot of self-work to embrace my role as a teacher. I think of myself as a yoga facilitator and love to simplify complex topics to make them easily digestible by all. I see the physical ... Read More

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

Flying from the US: Book your flights into and out of Kahului, Maui Airport (airport code: OGG)

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

No, airport transfers are not included in the price of your trip. Renting a car for the duration of your stay is highly recommended as there is much to explore on the island during your free time. Also having a car makes getting to the nearest beach just 10 minutes away easy and enjoyable.

If you do not plan on renting a car, the best way to get to Lumeria is by taxi. The ride will be about 20 minutes and the cost is $30-40. You will pay your driver directly.

What are the accommodations like?

All rooms have rain showerhead and river-rock shower floors, Aveda bathroom products, artwork by Maui artists, small refrigerators, in room safes and iPod docking stations.

What if I am traveling alone?

If you prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If we are not able to find you a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own room, the cost of a single supplement is $700 for the week.

Are all my meals included?

Breakfast and dinner are included in the price of your trip.

Are gratuities included?

No, gratuities are not included. We recommend approx $5-8 per person per day for the housekeeping and kitchen staff.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to International Yoga are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. TravelEx  and World Nomads are two reputable organizations. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so make sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

What is the cuisine like?

Chef Ben Diamond harvests the edible landscape for his farm-to-table dinner menus (which change daily) using seasonal ingredients— harvested from the bounty of Lumeria's organic gardens and other local farms. Each night, sample new dishes prepared from mahi-mahi, Pacific steelhead trout, and other local fish and seasonal produce. In the morning, a complimentary breakfast of organic fruits, yogurt, and granola starts the day.

How close is the nearest beach?

A favorite among locals, Baldwin Beach is the closest and most accessible beach at approximately 4.2 miles from Lumeria Maui (a 10 minute drive).

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $500 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to December 11, 2019 we will refund your payment minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferable after December 11, 2019. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree upon registration.
