Patti Quintero, MA, E-RYT, RPYT has been teaching yoga in the Los Angeles area for the last 20 years. Patti has been a valued teacher at YogaWorks since 2001, and is an integral part of their Teacher Training Faculty, leading 200-hour trainings, Pre and Postnatal Teacher Trainings and has served as a mentor for their Professional program. Her classes offer a challenging yet fluid approach that encourages students to move through the landscape of postures into a space of greater clarity, stillness, and ease. Patti is the founder of Uma Mother, a company dedicated to guiding, inspiring and connecting Mothers during Pregnancy, Postpartum and the different stages of Motherhood through the mindful practices of Yoga, Meditation and a supportive community. Her specialization in women’s wellness includes her work as a Birth Doula, and her philanthropic efforts supporting Maternal health care. She teaches online classes in both English and Spanish found on myyogworks.com and is part of the LMU Yoga Therapy Faculty. Patti lives in Santa Monica, California with her two children.

FAQ

What Inspired you to teach yoga?

I have always been drawn to teach, since I was a small child. My Masters degree is in Education. I found yoga through meditation and then once I began to practice asana while living in NYC it felt like one of the most familiar practices to my body and mind. While teaching Kindergarten I began to share yoga with my students. It was bringing me such joy and peace that I decided to transition and make it my full time career.

How would you describe your style?

An alignment based flow with a focus on breath, rhythmic movement and meditation.

Why do you feel retreats are transformational?

Retreats offer an opportunity to connect more deeply with oneself and other like minded individuals. It is a powerful way to create ritual together through mindful practices and community through meals and adventures.

What is your favorite pose to teach?

Vasisthasana, Pincha Mayurasana, Trikonasana to Ardha Chandrasana

What is your favorite pose to practice?

Pincha Mayurasana and backbends including Scorpion

Where are your favorite places to travel?

Tulum, Colombia, Italy, Bali and any beautiful beach or forest.
