Yoga & Culture in Italy

Located about an hour from Rome in the midst of the Italian countryside are two beautifully restored rustic 17th-century stone farmhouses with just about the most beautiful outdoor yoga platform we’ve ever seen. The grounds are lush and abundant, with a natural spring, gardens, pond and gorgeous swimming pool. Each room is unique and tastefully designed in a simple, natural style, a combination of old and new.

Farm-to-table-meals are prepared by our private chef and enjoyed family-style on a large farm table overlooking the expansive valley below. This region of Umbria is a lesser-known gem with a rich culinary heritage, famous since ancient times for the quality of its food and drink—in particular its olive oil, one of the best in the world. Connect to this rich past through day trips to nearby Orvieto or hikes to nearby medieval villages.

Relax by the pool, enjoy a massage, and delve into our twice-daily yoga classes, which will begin with a vigorous practice every morning and a meditation session each evening that will move us into hip openers, backbends, inversions, and finally, gentle restoratives.

If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

What kind of yoga will be practiced?

Hatha Yoga practice maintains a level of community within our group, that brings us together as we travel. Practices dynamically bring alive gently a level of physical fitness and athleticism, as it fires the neurons of the brain. It helps clear the nerve highways and pathways so you can focus better. Recent studies in brain elasticity indicate that during exercise and breathwork (as provided in the yogic system) it helps to develop coordination and balance. This stimulates the brain to create new maps and communication pathways (use it or lose it) within the body, thus keeping the brain healthy and vital in the process too.  Morning sessions will provide the physical body and brain with the exercise needed cultivating freshness of insight, joy in the journey, newness of the moment, inspiration and a deep practice for body, mind, along with authenticity of spirit.

(for all levels of ability, beginners welcome- yoga class participation is optional)

Learn to gently increase your flexibility and access core strength while cultivating a beautiful body and a focused state of mind.

Session includes:

* daily stretch, open & release tight hamstrings and hips.

* strengthen and tone muscles in the abdomen and back

* open the back and spine through gentle stretch and posture

* practice standing and balancing postures

* breathwork (pranayama) and deep release.

A note from Sherri: Why will this retreat be transformational?

The Power of Travel: Travel offers us challenging new experiences that can boost cognitive health. Travel is so important for longevity of spirit and personal wellbeing. Studies on the brain show that when your brain is exposed to a new environment, that is novel and complex, it reacts by forming new connections of newness and stimuli that maintain youthfulness and more joy. This grows the brain and keeps it active in life. While we experience beauty together, rich culture, nationalities and it's people, great farm to table fresh foods, regional wines (for those that imbibe) along with traditional mainstream yoga practices to boost our health, vibe of living and force of life.

Come join us and experience this journey to Italy, allowing this opportunity of travel together (with its expanded awareness of culture and community) to provide and inspire you with greater health, brainpower, joy and fun. Come with us, as we enjoy and explore Italy together. This trip awaits you with open arms.
