Yin & Yang Yoga in Mexico

Yin & Yang Yoga in Mexico

We are always looking for balance both on and off the mat. Join Erika & Beth at the award-winning, fully self-sustaining retreat center located on a pristine 200-acre nature reserve. This incredible location has a private beach on the Pacific coast of Mexico and is just a short 30-minute drive from the airport. Here we will explore the two sides of the coin through our practice. The sun and heat of vinyasa flow as well as the cooler, darker side of yin, restoratives and pranayama. Daytime activities range from snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding or exploring the local region. You will spend your time resting, unwinding, resetting, napping and de-tangling in your beautifully decorated open-air room with gorgeous ocean view and warm breezes. Explore the on-site turtle sanctuary and then indulge in a delicious, healthy meal, made fresh from ingredients harvested from the retreat center’s organic garden by their excellent staff. Bring a couple of books and prepare yourself to take some serious downtime so that you return to normal life a different person—relaxed, glowing, at ease and renewed.

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

Your international flight needs to be booked round trip to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (airport code: ZIH)

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Once you have provided us with your flight information, we will organize your airport transfer for you. The drive south to Playa Viva takes about 30 - 45 minutes.

What are the accommodations like?

Combining simple elegance with natural beauty and a commitment to improving the environment and the local community, Playa Viva is a sustainable boutique hotel located on the western coast of Mexico. Nestled between the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains near the village of Juluchuca, Playa Viva is situated on a mile of pristine and private beach.

The property’s nearly 200 acres includes an estuary, an Aztec archeological site, turtle sanctuary, and a coastal forest and mangrove ecosystem that supports an array of stunning wildlife. Playa Viva is close enough to the trappings of modernity yet worlds away providing immersion into the wonders of nature and escape to utter private relaxation.

All of Playa Viva’s rooms have unobstructed ocean views and private bathrooms. Depending on if you are traveling alone or plan to share your room there are options for singles, double and triples.

What if I am traveling alone?

If you prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If we are not able to find you a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own room, a single supplement will apply.

What is the cuisine like?

Playa Viva food is best described as "healthy Mexican," with a focus on traditional Mexican meals cooked with minimal oil and healthy and local ingredients—incorporating as many organics as possible and growing as much food onsite as possible on the 3-acre farm. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Please be sure to note these in your registration document.

Does Playa Viva have Air Conditioning in the Rooms?

No, none of the casitas have artificial air conditioning. The only air conditioning available is from the natural breeze flowing in from the ocean. The casitas are engineered to maximize the flow of air, minimize the heat effect from the sun, and make the environment as pleasant as possible.
