Yoga and Culture in Italy with Ashley Rideaux and Billy Gill
August 30 - September 6, 2014
This beautiful retreat center, about an hour from Rome, lies in the midst of the Italian countryside and has just about the most beautiful outdoor yoga platform we’ve ever seen, overlooking the surrounding valley. Accommodation is in two beautifully restored 17th century stone farmhouses with terraces which open out to a gentle panorama of olive groves, fruit trees and stunning sunsets. The grounds are lush and abundant, with a natural spring, gardens, pond and a swimming pool. The property is peaceful, rustic and ideal for spiritual practice. Every room is unique and tastefully designed. Selected by Taschen books as one of the “Great Yoga Retreats” (2009), they described this retreat center as “a second home that makes you forget the passing of time.”
The skillfully led yoga classes will be the perfect bookends to our days with energizing morning classes, deeply relaxing evening classes and plenty of free time to explore the local region which has a rich culinary heritage and has been famous since ancient times for the quality of its food and drink, in particular its olive oil, one of the best in the world. The charming medieval village of Torri in Sabina with just 1000 inhabitants is only three kilometers away, Rome is an hour away and day trips are possible to nearby Orvieto and incredible Assisi.
Meals made from the freshest of local ingredients will be prepared for us by our personal chef and enjoyed around a traditional family style table. Relax by the pool or enjoy a therapeutic massage. Join us!
Ashley was first introduced to yoga while studying acting at SMU. It makes perfect sense that after studying 4 years of movement and breathing exercises she'd find herself drawn to yoga! Based in Los Angeles, she is thrilled to be a certified YogaWorks Teacher Trainer. Her classes are challenging and playful, ranging from therapeutic work, with an emphasis on patients with neurological disorders, to advanced vinyasa flow. All of her classes are a balance of the physical and the philosophical. She invites the body and mind to unfold through her detail to alignment, breath work and meditation. www.yoga-with-ashley.com
Billy Gill is a Los Angeles-based yogi whose popular classes at YogaWorks and Urth Yoga focus students on aligning with the breath to direct attention and allow them to experience surrender. He first discovered yoga while studying theatre at Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. In 2003, while working as an actor and musician in Chicago, he began practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and soon became enthralled with the process of yoga. He is grateful to his teachers for this life-changing practice. www.billygill.com
