Balance & Bliss in Thailand: a Yogic Cultural Journey

Balance & Bliss in Thailand: a Yogic Cultural Journey

We’ll begin in the south at a highly-acclaimed, luxurious 5-star resort situated on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park on the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea. Nestled discreetly amidst tropical gardens and coconut groves, against a backdrop of sheer cliffs and lush jungle foliage, the resort can only be reached by boat. We will enjoy beautifully designed private bungalows, excellent cuisine, warm service, and one of the most unique relaxation spas in Thailand. Each day you will enjoy 1-2 yoga sessions with Jean Marie & Debra, with ample free time to relax by the gorgeous pool, snorkel in the stunning sea, and explore on your own.

We will continue our journey by flying north to the foothills for a stay in Chiang Mai, the cultural capital. Unique custom-designed excursions will include exploring ancient temples by rickshaw, participating in a traditional offering at a Buddhist temple, enjoying a private walking and shopping tour of local artisans and their handicrafts, cooking classes, an unforgettable traditional paper-lantern ceremony, and a visit to a nearby elephant sanctuary. Accommodation will be at a lovely property located in the historic heart of the city. The charming boutique hotel takes its name from a majestic 200-year-old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel. The rooms reflect the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from various tribes of the region. Enjoy daily yoga with Jean Marie & Debra at a nearby auditorium, rich cultural interactions, and delicious food. From beginning to end, this will be a restorative and transformational journey. You will be inspired by the beauty of the ocean, jungles, mountains, and temples, and by the enriching personal practices and abundant blessings that you will receive to enhance your life.

Travel to Thailand does not require getting a visa in advance. You will be granted a 30-day visa upon arrival. You will need proof of your return/departing flight.

IMPORTANT: If your passport expires within six months of your arrival date to Thailand, please be sure to renew your passport before you go to avoid any issues at immigration. There are no exceptions.

What are the accommodations like?

Rayavadee Hotel, KRABI- Rayavadee is an award winning 5-star resort located at the spectacular Phranang Peninsula on the Andaman coast, surrounded by sheer cliffs that rise from the sea and surrounding landscape. Accessible only by sea, you will arrive at the resort after a short, exhilarating speedboat trip from Krabi pier. Rayavadee's setting on the edge of Krabi's National Marine Park at the heart of the stunning Phranang Peninsula perfectly blends lush foliage, limestone cliffs, white sand beaches and the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea. The atmosphere of a southern Thai village inspired the resort’s award-winning architecture and tropical landscapes.

Rayavadee's enchanting two-story pavilions and beachfront villas are spread over 26 acres of coconut groves, their spacious interiors, and décor providing unsurpassed comfort for the property's highly discerning guests.

Tamarind Village, CHIANG MAI- Tamarind Village is a unique and charming boutique property that nestles in the heart of historic Chiang Mai. Surrounded by ancient temples and quaint shopping streets, it takes its name from magnificent 200 years old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel in a shady embrace. Set around a series of garden courtyards, the 42 guest rooms reflect the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from various tribes of the region. Intimate, serene and relaxing, Tamarind Village is an oasis of calm and tranquility, the perfect base for exploring Chiang Mai and beyond.

No, gratuities are not included in the price of your program. We suggest approximately $8-$10/day per person in the South at Rayavadee for housekeeping, bellman, waitstaff etc. In the North, you will have guides who will be assisting you on each of your excursions. We recommend $5-$10/person/day for guides and drivers and $5-$10/person/day for hotel staff.

What are the rooms like?

Week 1 (South) - Each two-story Deluxe Pavilion offers fully-equipped, spacious accommodation and stylish, tropical decor with polished wood, richly colored fabrics, and hand-crafted details throughout as well as an outdoor terrace with seating. The circular design of the pavilions blends perfectly with the resort's natural surroundings, echoing the rounded cliffs of the rock formations that characterize the area's unique landscape.

Week 2 (North) - Lanna Rooms offer first- and second-floor garden courtyard views and are decorated in a style that blends perfectly with the hotel’s theme and setting. Decorative elements such as hand-made lacquer boxes and embroidered tribal caps add to the charm and reflect the attention to detail found throughout the hotel.

If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to International Yoga are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. TravelEx  and World Nomads are two reputable organizations. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so make sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

How will I book my domestic airfare for Thailand?

As a part of your Thailand journey, you will get to experience both the beauty of the South as well as the majesty of Northern Thailand. In order to visit both parts of the country, there will be a one-way domestic flight associated with this itinerary in the middle of the week. The cost will be approximately $100 to $200 (exact prices vary until booked). We will be providing you with the details of this domestic flight, which you will be able to easily book along with all of your other flights.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $500 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to December 10, 2018  we will refund your payment minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferable after December 10, 2018.
