Yoga & Culture in Thailand

Join Pete for 10 days exploring the fascinating and awe-inspiring country of Thailand. We’ll begin at a highly rated, luxurious 5-star resort situated on the edge of Krabi Marine National Park on the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea. Nestled discreetly amidst tropical gardens and coconut groves, against a backdrop of sheer cliffs and lush jungle foliage, the resort can only be reached by boat. We'll enjoy beautifully designed private bungalows, excellent cuisine, warm and attentive service, and one of the most unique relaxation spas in Thailand. Yoga classes with Pete will bookend each day, with ample free time to relax by the gorgeous pool, snorkel in the stunning and serene ocean, and simply be.

We will then fly to Chiang Mai, the cultural capital, located in the foothills of the north. Custom-designed excursions will include exploring ancient temples by rickshaw, participating in a traditional offering at a Buddhist temple, enjoying a private walking and shopping tour of local artisans and their handicrafts, cooking classes, an unforgettable traditional paper-lantern ceremony, and a visit to a nearby elephant sanctuary. Accommodation will be at a lovely property located in the historic heart of the city. This charming boutique hotel takes its name from a majestic 200-year-old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel. The rooms reflect the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from various tribes of the region. Enjoy yoga with Pete, rich cultural interactions, delicious food and, as always, inspiring company… a wonderful, memorable, and moving introduction to all that Thailand has to offer.

FAQ

What are the accommodations like?

Week 1 (South) - Each two-story Deluxe Pavilion offers fully-equipped, spacious accommodation and stylish, tropical decor with polished wood, richly colored fabrics and hand-crafted details throughout as well as an outdoor terrace with seating. The circular design of the pavilions blends perfectly with the resort's natural surroundings, echoing the rounded cliffs of the rock formations that characterize the area's unique landscape.

Week 2 (North) - Lanna Rooms offer first and second floor garden courtyard views and are decorated in a style that blends perfectly with the hotel's theme and setting. Decorative elements such as hand-made lacquer boxes and embroidered tribal caps add to the charm and reflect the attention to detail found throughout the hotel.

What airport do I fly into?

Book your international ticket into Krabi International Airport (airport code: KBV) and departing out of Chiang Mai International Airport (airport code: CNX). Alternatively you can book your flights into and out of Bangkok (BKK) and then we can advise on booking the domestic flights separately.

To arrive on Day 1 of the retreat and depart on the last day you would schedule your flights to Arrive on April 21st and Depart on April 30th

How will I book my domestic airfare for Thailand?

One domestic flight is included in the price which is the one that will take you from Krabi in the south to Chiang Mai in the north mid-week on the retreat and we will be booking this for you.

Note that if your international flights begin and end in Bangkok you will also need additional domestic flights from Bangkok to Krabi where the retreat starts, and then out of Chiang Mai to Bangkok when the retreat ends. We have a travel agent who can assist you with this.

Do I need a Visa to travel to Thailand?

Travel to Thailand does not require a visa. You do need a valid passport, good for 6 months from date of arrival and proof of your return/departing flight. Upon arrival, you will receive a 30-day visa.

What vaccinations do I need?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Thailand. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What if I am traveling alone?

If you are traveling alone, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to find a roommate for you, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Are there group airfares?

There are no group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. We are happy to provide guidance and review any itineraries you find. Please contact us before purchasing flights and as always travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip whenever you arrive, day or night. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-25 attendees is a general average.

Are all levels of yoga experience welcome, from beginning to more advanced?
