Bhakti Bliss in Portugal

Bhakti Bliss in Portugal

Are you yearning for a life changing journey into the heart; an adventure to the center of our beings? If so, please join us for Bhakti Bliss in Portugal! Gathering on the dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea, where south-western Europe sinks into the Atlantic, we will spend a week chanting, doing yoga, making music and dancing at this fantastic eco-retreat. In a region enriched by powerful nature and fresh ocean air, amidst myths and tales of fishermen, sailors and pirates, we will explore the ancient practices of Bhakti Yoga and discover our very own epic love stories with the divine, weaving together our hearts and voices in celebration and invocation of Spirit.

During this week we will inquire how the body, the heart, and the mind support and complement each other in our journey towards the realm of infinite love and grace.  Nubia will lead the asana and pranayama sessions, which will anchor us in our bodies and open us to the meditative practices of prayer and invocation. Jai and Daniel will lead us in the ancient practice of Kirtan, or chanting, the heart and soul of devotional yoga. Together, Nubia, Jai and Daniel will guide us in a heart opening adventure through breath, movement and sacred sound, blending these traditions in a deep and playful way. Free time can be enjoyed doing a number of optional activities including: diving, fishing, nature walking, horseback riding, and surfing.

Bhakti Yoga is the path of personal relationship with Spirit, with God, with Goddess; a relationship that includes all the flavors and moods of the human heart. In the journey of Bhakti our emotions become the fuel to reconnect us with the Divine and, in so doing, to find healing and wholeness within ourselves. What a way to start Summer 2019!

Jai Uttal
Jai Uttal’s eclectic East-meets-West sound has put his music at the forefront of the world-fusion movement. Jai’s musical roots embrace everything from the hillbilly music of the Appalachian Mountains to the strains of Bengali street singers, from the rhythms and melodies of ancient India to contemporary electric rock sounds. Having traveled extensively in India, where he met many beautiful saints and singers, as well as his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, Bhakti Yoga became his personal path.   Jai has been teaching and leading kirtans around the world for more than 40 years, creating a safe environment for people to open their hearts and voices. He calls Kirtan his "soul support system" and still marvels at how his deeply private spiritual practice became a very public profession. Jai's sixth CD, Mondo Rama, re... Read More

No, gratuities are not included in the price of the program. We recommend $5-$10/day per person as a tip to be given at the end of your stay and shared amongst the staff. Tipping is not obligatory but is greatly appreciated especially when receiving great service.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to International Yoga are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. TravelEx  and World Nomads are two reputable organizations. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so make sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

The holistic center is designed to offer all the comfort and space you need for your practices. The yoga space is made with round wood architecture and heated floor is inspired in by a space in the Brazilian rainforest, surrounded by nature. Between activities one can relax or study in a variety of calm and peaceful spaces that were placed for the purpose of joy and contemplation, all with amazing views to the surroundings. The rooms are cozy with simple decoration, all that is needed to let go and surrender to the space of being taken care of.

Do I need vaccinations?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Portugal. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $500 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip. If you cancel prior to April 1, 2019 we will refund your payment minus the non-refundable deposit. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferable after April 1, 2019. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree upon registration.
